Eliminate can be used in several ways;
1. Easy, low FODMAP Meal
Just scoop, mix and drink for an easy, low trigger nutrionally complete meal. Perfect for those too busy to eat well, or those who find it difficult to find foods they can tolerate.
2. Elimination Diet
To work out which foods cause symptoms, all food is replaced with 3 serves of Eliminate Meal Replacement. Then, once symptoms have stopped (2-3 weeks), food is slowly, one at a time, reintroduced. Symptoms are noted with new food introduced. Using Eliminate helps keep you healthy and fuelled without compromising the Elimination Diet. Best done under the supervision of a medically professional.
3. Weight loss
Medically based, gut friendly weight loss. The low FODMAP alternative to FastFx or Optifast.
1. Add 2 level scoops to 350-500ml of cold water or dairy free milk, to taste. If you are trying to remove FODMAPs, do not mix it with cow’s milk which is a FODMAP.
2. Blend or shake (a blender or nutribullet works best).
3. Use 1 serving to replace 1 meal (up to 4 serves per day) or, in addition to meals if you are using it as a nutritional top up.
If you are using Eliminate to minimise FODMAPS, it is important that you not consume any other foods containing FODMAPS.
If you are using Eliminate for weight loss, it is important anything else you eat is healthy, low calorie and low FODMAP.
YES! An Elimination Diet requires you to remove foods (containing FODMAPs) which may be contributing to your symptoms. You will be required to take all these foods out for a period of time, assess how your gut is without them and then slowly reintroduce them back into your diet. When you reintroduce them one by one, it becomes clear which of these you have a low intolerance to and these foods should be avoided or minimised to reduce symptoms.
Making it easy
An Elimination diet can be complicated and tiresome and it can be difficult to find foods that you are allowed to eat during this period. Eliminate Meal Replacements makes it easy. We have done all the hard work - you just need to mix and drink and you can be confident that you have minimised the common triggers without comprising your health or energy.
For a definitive answer to your food intolerances, you should use Eliminate for all 3 meals a day for at least 2 weeks.
Then, reintroduce problematic foods back into your diet, one at a time, and look for symptoms. Once you find a food that gives you symptoms, you can avoid that food.
The Monash App as a very helpful tool during this phase. An Elimination diet is best navigated under the guidance of a Dietitian or Doctor.
If you are using Eliminate Meal Replacement to discover which foods trigger your symptoms, it is helpful to keep a diary of what food you eat and the resulting symptoms. This is especially important during the Reintroduction Phase, when you are testing high FODMAP food to see which trigger you.
Record everything you eat each day, and any symptoms you might have. You can keep a paper journal, take notes on your phone, or use a food App, like the one from Monash University. This will help you work out correlations between certain foods and symptoms.
For example, after removing bread from your diet for a few weeks, you might then eat a piece. Write down when and how much you ate and then any symptoms you might experience. For example, Breakfast - two pieces of toast - 10 am cramping and wind. You will see patterns emerge between certain food and certain symptoms.
Yes. If you already know that certain foods trigger your gut symptoms, then you can skip doing the Elimination Diet and just use Eliminate Meal Replacement to help manage your symptoms. Customers who regularly drink Eliminate report a significant reduction in constipation, diarrhoea, cramping, bloating and stomach gurgling.
It is a simple and cost effective way to reduce FODMAPS but still ensure you are getting all the essential nutrients.
Yes, Eliminate Meal Replacement can be used for weight loss. It meets the very strict NZ and Australian guidelines and contains absolutely all your essential nutrients, while still being very low in calories. It is similar to FastFx, but uses only low FODMAP ingredients. Lose your tummy without upsetting it.
They are both Meal Replacement Smoothie powders. They are both vegan, high in protein and fibre and contain no dairy, gluten, or artificial sweeteners, favours or colours.
Eliminate Meal Replacement differs from FastFx in that all the ingredients are low in FODMAPS. Its primary purpose is to help you manage gut symptoms by minimising FODMAP triggers, while also providing all the essential nutrients and vitamins you need. The primary purpose of FastFx is healthy weight loss, and it does contain some FODMAPs. While FastFx is tolerated by some people with gut concerns, it does contain Oligofructose and Inulin which are FODMAPs and could be a potential source of discomfort to some.
Eliminate Meal Replacement can be used instead of FastFx for weight loss without the dietary triggers.
Hydrogen Breath Testing is a medical test used to measure certain food intolerances (available in NZ at our MacMurray Centres). During a Breath Test you drink a variety of liquids which contain different FODMAPS, you then exhale into a special machine which measures the production of intestinal gases. If your gut does not absorb a certain FODMAP well, it will produce a specific gas, which is registered on the breath test machine. You then know that this FODMAP type will trigger symptoms for you.
Eliminate should help if your concerns are caused by food triggers. Reducing FODMAPs is the most effective way to treat gut symptoms.
While every gut is different, research has linked the ingredients used to a reduction in IBS, gut sensitivity, bloating, wind, bowel issues and cramps.
But, every person's gut is unique and potentially some individuals might not be helped, or in some cases, their symptoms potentially might worsen.
Gut symptoms can be caused other issues, such as hypersensitivity, hormones and stress. If this is the case, see your Doctor.
Gut health is individually personal to each of us. By very nature it is complex, and therefore causes, symptoms and treatments can vary. If you find that Eliminate is not helpful for you personally, please stop using it and discuss with your Doctor about other options for you.
Eliminate is safe for people over 65—we're simply required by labelling regulations to include this precaution.
Why the warning?
New Zealand's calorie guidelines and daily recommended amounts are based on adults aged 18-65. While daily requirements for someone over 65 are usually no different, those are just the parameters of the official guidelines.
Regulatory compliance
We're bound by labelling rules that require these precautions for anyone outside the 18-65 age range—it's not because the product is unsafe, it's because the official nutritional guidelines don't extend beyond those ages.
When to consult your GP
If you have existing health conditions (like diabetes), it's always good to discuss any diet or lifestyle changes with your doctor first. This applies to anyone at any age.
This is a generic mandatory labelling requirement and the ingredients in Eliminate have been tested and certified by Monash as low FODMAP.
We are confident that the fibres used (Fibersol® and Sunfiber®) are the very best fibres available for people with gut concerns, with robust research showing they can help ease gut symptoms.
However, our digestive systems are complex and varied and sensitivity can vary from person to person. If you find that your symptoms do not improve, or if they get worse, then it could be that your gut is unusually sensitive to these fibres. Please stop using and consult your Doctor for some other options.
Yes.
Eliminate does not contain anything that could harm your baby, so it is safe for you to use as a supplement during pregnancy, in fact, all the extra vitamins and minerals would be beneficial for your baby's health.
However, it does not contain enough calories to be used as a sole source of nutrition if you are pregnant. In your first trimester, you need about 1800 calories per day, second trimester 220 calories per day and in the third trimester, 2,400 calories per day. That means that three Eliminate Smoothies wouldn’t be enough to also feed your baby. It would be important to use it as a supplement only and to eat additional calories.
You should always discuss any diet or lifestyle changes with your Doctor or Midwife.
Yes.
Eliminate does not contain anything that could harm your baby. We have lots of mothers who are breastfeeding who use HealthFx products to top up their essential nutrients during this tiring and energy draining period.
But, it should not be used a sole source of food because it does not contain enough calories for breastfeeding mothers. When you are nursing you need about 450-500 extra calories a day. So you can use Eliminate as part of your balanced diet, just make sure you add more calories.
Please discuss any diet or lifestyle change with your Doctor or Midwife.
Gut problems
Alleviate is helpful if you suffer from gut problems (like bloating, wind, cramps, constipation or diarrhoea). Its special fibres have been shown to help ease these symptoms.
Gut microbiome
The prebiotics in Alleviate also feed the beneficial bacteria in your gut, helping them grow and thrive. This leads to better digestion, stronger immune function, improved nutrient absorption, and reduced inflammation. A healthy gut microbiome also supports mood, cognition and energy levels.
Most don't get enough fibre
Most people do not consume enough fibre.
We need 25-38 grams/day but most of us get just 10 gram. It can be even more difficult for people with gut issues because many high fibre foods and supplements are also high in FODMAPs.
That is why Alleviate is a game changer. It is made from fibres that are low FODMAP, so you can now top up your fibre, while being kind to your gut.
Most people start to see an improvement in their gut symptoms after 2-3 days of taking Alleviate.
However, it can take as long as 6 weeks if your issues are severe. Please be patient and don't give up.
Our guts are very complex and, if the inflammation is acute, then it can take many weeks for the microbiome to change in a meaningful way.
Research suggests that over the longer term, a low FODMAP diet, (while helping your gut symptoms), can reduce the presence of certain important gut bacteria. It is important to reintroduce these healthy bacteria for your digestive and overall health.
Alleviate can help rebalance the microbiome of your digestive system, which can get stripped out from a low FODMAP diet.
We know that fibre is important for your bowel regularity, but it also helps decrease the risk of many chronic diseases. It is essential for digestive health, heart health, management of diabetes and weight, as well as mood, cognition and immunity.
Most New Zealanders and Australians do not get enough fibre from their daily food.
We typically think of fibre as helping with constipation, but the special types of fibre we use in Alleviate (and Eliminate) can actually also help with Diarrhoea. Sunfiber® and Fibersol® help to bind excess water in your gut and also bulk up your stool, providing dual function. It is hard to understand how it can help with both, but the scientific research and trials suggests it really does.
Alleviate fibres are prebiotic
Not all fibres are prebiotic but the ones in Alleviate are. This means that they actively feed the healthy bacteria in our gut, encouraging the growth of the good ones and depleting the bad ones. This is especially important if you have had a limited diet over the years, or antibiotic use. You can read more about this here.
Alleviate fibres are low FODMAP
Many fibres contain triggers that can cause gut problems.
When fibre ferments in the gut it produces “short chain fatty acids”(SCFAs). If this fermentation occurs too rapidly (as is the case with many fibres) it can result in bloating, wind, discomfort and bowel changes. The fermentation process of Alleviate and Eliminate is extremely slow. This means that SCFAs are produced, but very slowly, so you typically experience significantly less gas, bloating, gut pain and bowel issues.
The research suggests that the ingredients in Alleviate may help relieve common gut concerns in most people. While every gut is different, research has linked the ingredients in Alleviate to a reduction in IBS, gut sensitivity, bloating, wind, cramps, constipation and diarrhoea. But it is important to note that some individuals might not be helped, or in some cases, their symptoms might worsen.

Yes, Alleviate can be added to baking, or to smoothies or other drinks. Because it is clear and has only a mild flavour, it is a great way to easily increase your daily fibre intake.
Yes, the ingredients in Alleviate are appropriate for all ages. It can be added to children’s juice, milk, yoghurt or any other non-carbonated drinks. Children shouldn’t have more than 1 serve per day.
PHGG (the active ingredient in Alleviate) has also been shown to reduce colic, crying and fussing in small children. So the research suggests it is helpful not only for children’s gut health, but may also help with gut related crying.
Yes. Research has shown that partially hydrolysed guar gum may also have benefits for the health of your skin, including increasing moisture content, reducing dryness, roughness, especially during winter.
Yes. Research suggests that addressing unbalanced microbiomes in the gut may lead to improvements in sleep and mood.
Yes. Research suggests that partially hydrolysed guar gum can help with Gastroparesis.
While significant weight loss can only be achieved through calorie reduction, partially hydrolysed guar gum has been shown to help with appetite control. It does this by helping to slow down gut transit time and by stimulating our natural satiety hormone - cholecystokinin (CCK).
If you are wanting gut friendly weight loss, then try Eliminate Meal Replacement.

Alleviate doesn’t have anything in it that is problematic for older people but NZ and Australian labelling laws require this as a precautionary statement on the label.
As with any dietary or lifestyle changes, it is always a good idea to discuss this with your Doctor.
Alleviate doesn‘t contain anything that could harm your baby, so it is safe for you to use while you are pregnant. We are bound by labelling rules that require precautions to be included on packaging and because you and your baby’s health is paramount, you should run any diet or lifestyle change past your Doctor or midwife.

Mix 1 scoop (provided inside tub) with a glass of water (cold or hot), approx 150-300ml, and stir well.
It has a subtle flavour, so if you would like a stronger taste, then add less water.
Because the special fibres take a few seconds to dissolve, waiting a few minutes will allow it to disperse and go transparent. You can drink it while it is still cloudy, or you might like to wait until it has gone clear.
Yes. Alleviate has a subtle berry flavour, so if you are short on time, or prefer to just have one drink, you can add your Alleviate scoop to your Eliminate Meal Replacement just before blending.
