We all carry stories about ourselves—narratives that shape how we understand our lives. Over time, these stories harden into what we accept as truth.

Our behaviours mirror the story we tell about ourselves. We act the way we do because of who we believe we are.

Remember the old psychology trick? Think "clouds," "paper," "ice cream"—now, what do cows drink? (if you're not familiar with it, most people answer "milk" because of the previous messaging, when the actual answer is "water"). 

When we repeat certain phrases in our heads, they prime what comes next. What you've been saying about yourself has become your reality.

Sometimes these stories come from others. Sometimes you author them yourself.

 

Our story impacts our weight

What's been the narrative of your weight journey?

How did your struggle begin? What messages did you internalise? What script have you been reading from? Many people's stories include lines like "I can't lose weight," "I'm big-boned," "Everyone in my family is heavy," "I always gain it back," or "I have a slow metabolism."
